Scouts

Jump in and get muddy. Give back and get set. Scouts ignore the butterflies and go for it, and soon so will you.

Our Scout Troop is for boys and girls aged between ten and a half and fourteen.  We meet on Fridays between 7pm and 9.30pm.  Cookham Scouts are a large and busy Troop with a big focus on outdoor activities and teambuilding. We get outdoors 12 months a year taking full advantage of the great local countryside.  Our team of 8 leaders has over 130 years of experience of running Scout programmes.

As well as our Friday term time meetings, we run a number of big activities at the weekends and holidays like camps, hikes and competitions. On the first May bank holiday weekend we head off to Wales for a Hillwalking trip. Our annual highlight is going on Summer Camp in the first full week of the Royal Borough summer holidays. We go surfing, bushcrafting, mountain biking, waterfall climbing, canoeing, pony trekking, mine exploring and backpacking.  Scouts cook their own meals on open fires.  We run a patrol system, where older Scouts look after small teams of younger members.  Scouts work towards achieving their Chief Scouts Gold Award by the time they go up to Explorers.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
